McAvennie makes ‘great’ Postecoglou claim after Celtic behind-the-scenes footage
Frank McAvennie has been blown away by what he’s seen from the early days of Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic career.
The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, waxed lyrical about the new boss after watching some behind the scenes footage.
On 2nd July, Celtic shared footage of a mic’d up Postecogou taking a training session.
It seemed the new Hoops boss was focusing on ball speed and how to get the ball up the pitch quickly.
There was also footage of Postecoglou personally greeting every player before the session.
McAvennie was left stunned by the footage and is excited about the brand of football Postecoglou can bring to Parkhead.
“The new guy has his feet under the table,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Some of the things I’ve seen him say, I’m quite impressed.
“The first thing I noticed is that he’s going to get them all fitter.
“They are going to be at it right from the start. When he was mic’d up the first thing he was saying was to get the ball down and in the box.
“I thought ‘we’ve not done that for a good while’. We need things into feet.
“That’s the way you score goals and create chances. That football will create a great atmosphere.

“That’s what football is all about. It’s not about keeping the ball, it’s about scoring.
“It looks like Postecoglou will give us that.”
