McAvennie predicts Celtic wantaway stars in for ‘shock’ amid offers claim

Frank McAvennie claims some of the wantaway stars at Celtic are in for a shock this summer as offers won’t be ‘flooding in’.

The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, is struggling to see where some exit-bound players are going to go.

Celtic are set for a rebuild this summer after a trophyless season and a non-existent title defence.

A new manager is set to be appointed with the first team squad in need of an overhaul.

Many Celtic players have been linked with summer transfers with Patryk Klimala already sealing a move to New York Red Bulls.

McAvennie claims Celtic’s wantaway players will struggle to get moves after their performances this season and insists they’re in for a shock.

“I think they will get a shock,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I don’t think offers are going to come flooding in this summer, that’s a stumbling block right there.

“They’ve not done well enough. They might think they’re good players in their own minds.

“But I’m not sure where these offers are coming from. I might be totally off the mark.

“Premier League clubs won’t let the players get away with what they’ve been doing this season. That’s where all the links are.

“Good luck to them but I think getting rid of them won’t be as straightforward as it seems.”

Celtic lost their fourth Old Firm of the season last weekend as Rangers eased to a 4-1 win
