McAvennie slams 'embarrassing' Celtic as source shares manager hunt update
Frank McAvennie has slammed Celtic after the club failed to appoint Eddie Howe as their new manager.
The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, has also questioned why the club are looking at Ange Postecoglou.
In a statement on Friday, Celtic confirmed Howe would not become their new manager due to reasons “outwith both his and Celtic’s control”.
A Celtic source has told Football Insider that Postecoglou has asked for permission to be released from his Yokohama F. Marinos contract so he can join the club.
The latest is that the Hoops are hopeful are tying up a deal in the coming days.
It has now been three months since Neil Lennon left Parkhead.

As it stands, the club has no manager in place with pre-season training just weeks away.
McAvennie can’t believe what he’s seen over the last few days and claims the club are set to waste even more time.
“What an embarrassment of a club,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I don’t know too much about this boy [Postecoglou], it doesn’t sound like he’s signed yet. By all accounts, he sounds like his own man.
“Whoever comes in will get a fair chance with me. But he’s never coached anywhere with a high standard.
“If he’s that good, he’s 55, why hasn’t he had a big job by now? He also has to come in and self-isolate.
“It’s getting embarrassing now. Training starts in two weeks. He won’t even have a house or be sorted.
“That’s not good for coming into a season like this. If he’s in a hotel somewhere, who’s going to sign the players?”
