McAvennie ‘sure’ of more Celtic signings after ‘amazing’ development

Frank McAvennie has hailed Celtic after the club confirmed three early transfers.

The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, has been blown away by the club’s early business.

On 31 December, Celtic announced the captures of Daizen Maeda from Yokohama F. Marinos, Yosuke Ideguchi from Gamba Osaka and Reo Hatate from Kawasaki Frontale.

These arrivals boost Ange Postecoglou’s options in attack and midfield with Hatate also a capable left-back.

McAvennie has praised the Hoops for getting the deals done so quickly.

“Celtic getting business done this early, I’ve never seen it,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Amazing, I can’t remember us getting business done before the window even opened.

“One thing these players are is enthusiastic, that is clear already.

“It’s a great thing for Celtic. I can’t wait to see all four of the Japanese lads starting together.

“It will be a sight to behold I imagine. Don’t get wrong, we know absolutely nothing about them.

“But after Kyogo you have to be excited by all of this. Getting them in early gives us plenty of time to get them bedded in for the next game.

“That’s the real big thing, for me. We now have options and a bit more depth which is what we have been crying out for.

“It’s a great start to the window and I’m sure there are more to come.”
