Hibs midfielder John McGinn has poked fun at Rangers star Jason Cummings saying he has bad hair, tattoos and jokes – but did concede he was a good finisher.

The 22-year-old joined the Gers in January from Nottingham Forest but has struggled to force his way into a regular place in the starting XI.

McGinn and Cummings played together at Hibs and are team-mates in Alex McLeish’s Scotland squad and Hibs ace McGinn couldn’t resist having a joke a Cummings’ expense.

“Avoid Jason Cummings at all cost basically,” McGinn told the official Scotland podcast, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“He’s a wee bit immature, doesn’t get out much.

“Bad hairstyle, bad tattoos, bad jokes. Good finisher but that’s about it.”

Cummings has earned a reputation as a joker and will no doubt look to get back at the Hibs midfielder.

The Rangers striker has impressed on loan at Ibrox despite his limited opportunities and is expected to make his move permanent in the summer after only a single season with Nottingham Forest.

Football Insider verdict:

McGinn’s right on at three of the four points he made – having not spent much more than a few minutes in the striker’s company it would be unfair to comment on his jokes – and the most important one is the fact he’s a good finisher. Cummings will be hoping that fact can help him force his way into a regular starting place in Graeme Murty’s side and continue to score consistenly. The break with the international should give Cummings a chance to get some game time under his belt and build his fledgling Scotland career.
