Hibernian defender Darren McGregor believes his side’s midfield is as good as Celtic’s despite Hibs sitting fourth in the Scottish Premier League.
The centre-half made the stark claim which will undoubtedly irritate supporters of the Bhoys after the top-flight side signed Scott Allan during the January transfer window.
He believes that the along with the likes of Dylan McGeouch,  John McGinn, Marvin Bartley, and Martin Boyle they are a force in the league and comparable to the champions.
McGregor was quoted by the Daily Record as saying: “You look at the middle of the park and the bodies we have going forward now.
“With adding Scottie Allan to it, you’ve got Dylan, John, Brandon and Boyle on either wing – it’s one the best midfields if not the best outside Celtic – and even then it’s comparable to them for me.”
The 32-year-old was speaking after his side’s win over Rangers at the weekend – a victory that has clearly boosted confidence levels at Easter Road.
Celtic last played Hibernian back in January – a game which the Hoops won 1-0 – but it was a closely-fought contest and one where both midfield zones did appear to cancel the other one out.
The Hoops will feel that they have more quality in the centre of the park though, particularly with the loan signing of Charly Musonda from Chelsea to add to the already gifted James Forrest, Scott Sinclair, and combative Scott Brown.
However, if there were any way to answer who is the best side then a look at the Scottish top-flight league table would draw a conclusion.
In other Celtic news, talkSPORT pundit concerned that Spurs will come calling if Madrid transfer materialises.
