Exclusive: Alex McLeish 'Appalled' by what he's seen at Leeds
Alex McLeish was left “appalled” by the offside decision that denied Leeds United a goal against Crystal Palace.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Russell Edge, the former Scotland, Aston Villa and Rangers manager claimed it “was the worst VAR decision I’ve ever seen”.
Patrick Bamford had his first-half effort controversially ruled out for offside as Marcelo Bielsa’s side fell to their second consecutive 4-1 defeat in the Premier League.
Leeds have since asked the Premier League and the referees’ body PGMOL to clarify the decision that left neutral observers baffled.
McLeish told Football Insider: “That was the worst VAR decision I’ve ever seen in an offisde situation, where a guy is pointing.
“I don’t know what the rules are, is that the shoulder, is the shoulder supposed to be offside? Bamford’s pointing and that takes away the genius of the players on the pitch, you know. He’s actually instructing one of his teammates where to put the pass.

“Sometimes that teammate has got the gift of doing that but not every team member has that gift, that intelligence.
“A lot of players do, the David Silvas, they just see the centre forward drop his shoulder and he will slip it in.
“Bamford was actively saying to that guy: ‘I’m going in behind, get it in there.’ It was absolutely ridiculous because the rest of his body was easily onside and for me, I was appalled at that decision.”
