McLeish predicts where Aston Villa will finish after 'outstanding' Ings signing
Alex McLeish has suggested Aston Villa could push for a top-six finish in the Premier League following the signing of Danny Ings.
The former Villa boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted the club’s recruitment this summer had blown him away.
Villa confirmed they had completed the signing of Ings from Southampton on Wednesday (August 4th).
The centre-forward has signed a three-year deal at Villa Park.
He had entered the last 12 months of his contract at St Mary’s.
The Villans have also added Emi Buendia, Ashley Young and Leon Bailey to their ranks this summer but have lost Jack Grealish to Man City.

Despite that, McLeish has lauded the hierarchy at Villa Park for backing manager Dean Smith in the transfer window.
He suggested the Midlands giants could challenge for the European spots next season.
McLeish told Football Insider deputy editor Russell Edge: “Wow, outstanding. The recruitment has been excellent so far.
“To continue to support the manager in the way they have and with the financial clout that they have makes them almost consistently look like a top-six Premier League team.
“They’re maybe top-eight at the moment but they’re starting to get to that kind of level I would say. They continue to give the manager the financial backing.”
As detailed by Football Insider, the deal to sign Buendia will cost Aston Villa at least £57million.
That includes a £33million transfer fee, £5million in add-ons and his £75,000-a-week wage.
