McLeish suggests Morelos angry at 'boot up the backside' after 'massive' Rangers claim
Alex McLeish has insisted Steven Gerrard gave Alfredo Morelos a “boot up the backside” after Rangers drew with Brondby.
The former Gers boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted the 25-year-old looked “miffed” after being substituted off on Thursday.
Gerrard swapped out two of of his front three before the hour mark in Denmark, with the Light Blues trailing 1-0.
Substitutes Ryan Kent and Ianis Hagi linked up to score the Gers’ equaliser in the final 15 minutes.
Speaking at his post-match press conference, Gerrard admitted there was a “massive improvement” after the changes.
He suggested he either “got the front three wrong” or that the attackers didn’t deliver what he “expected of them”.

McLeish admitted Morelos and Fashion Sakala were not at the races in Denmark.
He suggested their early withdrawal would serve as a warning shot from Gerrard.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think Stevie’s given the guys a wee boot up the backside.
“By doing that, you could see Morelos looked a bit miffed coming off.
“Two things: they weren’t at their best up front and that front three didn’t really impact to a great degree.
“The other thing is it just gives them a wee reminder that they’ve got to keep playing at a certain level. The guys got a wee rest, Morelos got a rest and he should be fresh for the weekend.”
Morelos has scored seven goals in 20 appearances for the Light Blues so far this season.
Rangers face Ross County at Ibrox in their final game before the international break.
