McManus issues £15m Celtic-Josip Juranovic reveal amid ‘best in the world’ claim

Celtic could now sell Josip Juranovic for £15million after his performances at the World Cup.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Juranovic’s latest outing.

On 30 November, sources told Football Insider that Celtic were confident of agreeing a £5million-plus January deal for Juranovic, 27, as the club face losing their star defender, just 18 months after he joined following the collapse of contract extension talks.

According to the Scottish Sun (7 December), Atletico Madrid sent scouts to watch the 27-year-old in his World Cup game for Croatia against Brazil.

The right-back has played every game for the national team and helped them secure a place in the semi-finals with an impressive display against the tournament favourites.

McManus insists Celtic’s dealmakers will be eyeing a major transfer fee after the defender’s most recent performance.

“You are maybe talking £6million before that game but he was then absolutely outstanding against Brazil,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“There is no bigger shop window in the world than beating Brazil at the World Cup. Everybody has seen that performance now.

“He’s 27, the peak of his career, and he kept on fo the best in the world quiet in Vinicius Jr. The Celtic board will be rubbing their hands together and you are talking about £10million or £15million now, easily.

“Celtic can get that purely on the basis of his brilliant World Cup and it’s not over yet.”
