Medical booked: Bolton Wanderers agree fee for Bristol Rovers ace Aaron Collins – sources

Bolton Wanderers have agreed a fee with Bristol Rovers to sign forward Aaron Collins, sources have told Football Insider.

The 26-year-old is scheduled to have a medical ahead of a deadline day switch to the promotion-chasing Trotters.

It is believed that Ian Evatt’s side have beaten the likes of Charlton Athletic to secure the striker after making several bids.

Now, Rovers have accepted their final offer to let their starman depart the club after two-and-a-half seasons.

Collins has had a prolific season at the Memorial Stadium having scored five goals and provided nine assists in all competitions.

He was named League One’s Player of the Season in 2022-23 after a stellar campaign where he notched 16 goals and 12 assists.

The Welshman has not netted in the league since Rovers’ 2-1 defeat to Oxford United in October but currently has the second-most assists in the third tier behind Derby County’s Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.

The versatile forward has played across the frontline this season but is most often deployed as a centre-forward or a left-winger.

The former Wolves man signed for Rovers for free in 2021 after his deal at Forest Green Rovers expired.
