Manchester City winger Brandon Barker is set to undergo a Rangers medical and complete a deadline-day move, Football Insider understands.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider the club are confident of completing the capture of the left-winger, 22, as they look to strengthen their attacking ranks this month.

The Premier League champions are willing to let Barker leave as he enters the final year of his contract at the club he joined as a youth-team player.

Rangers’ swoop for Barker suggests they may have given up hope of landing summer-long target Ryan Kent from City’s big Premier League rivals Liverpool.

Steven Gerrard has made no attempt to hide his desire to snap up Kent on a second consecutive loan but Liverpool want to sell him permanently and it appears they have been priced out.

Barker spent last season on loan at Championship rivals Preston North End, making 18 league appearances among 20 in all competitions.

The wide man has graduated from the Man City youth ranks but has played just one senior game for his parent club despite being capped by England at Under-20 level.

Barker has had spells on loan at Hibernian, NAC Breda and Rotherham United, as well as at Preston, where he scored two goals and supplied two assists from his 20 matches in 2018-19.

In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the club are to sell senior man after Dave King green light, with multi-million fee talks to begin.
