Medical booked: Tottenham agree midfielder deal after offer accepted – sources

Tottenham have accepted a loan offer from Championship side Plymouth Argyle for Alfie Devine, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed the 19-year-old will undergo a medical with the Devon club within the next 24 hours.

Devine is set to become Plymouth’s second loan signing from Tottenham this month – with young defender Ashley Phillips already having joined on a temporary basis.

Port Vale have confirmed that the Spurs youngster has been recalled by his parent club, cutting short what was originally a season-long deal.

Devine made 26 appearances across all competitions for the League One outfit this term, notching three goals and three assists.

His spell at Vale Park was the youngster’s first loan move and Spurs have now decided he is ready for the step up into the second tier.

The 19-year-old is set to link up with Ian Foster at Plymouth Argyle after he replaced Steven Schumacher earlier this month.

Foster handed Devine his debut for England’s Under-19 and Under-20 sides and will be knowledgeable about the midfielder’s talents.

The youngster primarily plays as an attacking midfielder but can also play as a central midfielder.

He is under contract at Tottenham until June 2027 after penning his last extension in September 2022.

Plymouth sit 19th in the Championship table and are eight points clear of the division’s bottom three.

Devine could make his Argyle debut in their next second-tier clash against Cardiff on Saturday (20 January).

In other news, Tottenham will now let three more senior stars leave this month.
