Gerard Deulofeu will complete a loan move from Everton to AC Milan after arriving in Italy on Sunday night to put the finishing touches to the transfer, according to reports.
Milan initially announced on their official Twitter account on Friday that the deal had been finalised – a premature move which angered the Merseyside club – but the terms appear to have now been wrapped up.
Pictures showed Deulofeu at Milan Malpensa airport on Sunday evening after his flight from Manchester had arrived.
Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported on his website that the Spanish winger, 22, will undergo a Milan medical on Monday and join the Serie A giants for the remainder of the season.
It becomes the latest transfer sealed by Everton this month after they completed the marquee signings of Morgan Schneiderlin for up to £24million from Manchester United and Ademola Lookman for £11million from Charlton.
There have also been some outgoings, with West Ham announcing on Sunday that they had signed young Goodison attacking midfielder Nathan Holland.
Manager Ronald Koeman has given the green light for Deulofeu to leave after giving him a bit-part role in the opening half of the season.
Deulofeu has only played 13 Everton matches in all competitions, spread across 568 minutes of action, and has not made the matchday squad for five of the last six Premier League games.
He was once again omitted on Saturday from the 18 as Koeman’s side secured a second consecutive Premier League trumph with a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace.
Deulofeu’s temporary exit will free up space on the Everton wage bill as, according to the Daily Star, he earns £48,000-a-week.
Football Insider verdict:
Everton fans should be careful what they wish for. Supporters have got on his back in recent months and Deulofeu might not be quite to the taste of Koeman at the moment but he is young enough and good enough to still be a major performer in the Premier League. A spell on loan in Serie A could be just the ticket for the winger. He can get plenty of minutes under his belt, restore his confidence and come back to Everton next season and be a major asset to the team.
