The centre-back proved himself as a capable Premier League player after a spate of impressive performances at Turf Moor last season which saw him earn his first senior international cap for England in March.
With his medical understood to be scheduled, Keane could become Ronald Koeman’s fifth recruit of the summer.
Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen and Henry Onyekuru have all be confirmed to have signed for Everton while Sky Sports reported on Sunday that Sandro Ramirez is Koeman’s fourth new signing after agreeing a five-year deal.
Keane began his career in the ranks of the academy at Manchester United, making five senior appearances for the club as he was sent out on four different loan spells.
His temporary stint at Burnley was made permanent in January 2015 and a year later he would help the Clarets to the Championship title following relegation the year before.
Last season saw Keane come of age as he played a key part in helping Sean Dyche’s side avoid relegation from the top-flight by making 39 appearances across all competitions and scoring two goals, which came against Watford and Hull.
Football Insider Verdict
Everton are having an absolute stormer of a transfer window and it’s hard to see how any of their new recruits could flop on Merseyside. Pickford, Klaassen, Ramirez and Keane could all walk into Koeman’s first-team plans as the Toffees go on a continental adventure in the Europa League. Everton could seriously mount a challenge for the Premier League title if they keep this up. However something as ambitious as that would seriously hinge on keeping hold of players like Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley, who might have to be sold to balance the books as the Toffees spending goes well over £80million.
