Medical scheduled: Tottenham close to sealing January attacker transfer
By Harry Sykes
Tom Carroll will have a medical at Swansea as he puts the finishing touches to a transfer from Tottenham, according to a report.
Sky Sports claim on their website that the attacking midfielder, 24, is on the verge of joining the Welsh club after failing to command a place in the Spurs side.
It is said that Carroll has been given the green light to undergo medical tests at the Liberty Stadium as well as discuss personal terms with the relegation battlers.
Sky Sports report that the figure agreed for the former England Under-21 international is an initial £4.5million, although it has been reported elsewhere that it could rise to £9million depending on add-ons such as appearances and performance-related bonuses.
Carroll has been given the green light to leave Tottenham despite signing a new contract last autumn that runs until the summer of 2019.

Swansea manager Paul Clement admitted on Thursday that his team were in “talks” with the London outfit to seal a deal and that now appears to have been done, barring any late hiccups.
Tottenham fans have given mixed verdicts on the imminent exit of the academy product, who has been superceded by the likes of Harry Winks in the midfield pecking order this season, while more established players such as Victor Wanyama, Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier are also ahead of him.
The latter quartet are all in the running to play for Tottenham when they resume Premier League action with a home clash against West Brom on Saturday.
