Medical today: Hull City beat Leeds to loan-to-buy deal for Luton Town star Ryan Giles – sources
Luton Town star Ryan Giles is undergoing a medical at Hull City on Monday (29 January) ahead of an initial loan move, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed last week (23 January) that the Tigers were in advanced talks with Luton over a potential temporary deal for Giles, 23.
It is believed Hull have struck a loan deal with an obligation-to-buy agreement, meaning Giles will become their player on a permanent basis in the summer window.
Sources told Football Insider earlier this month (18 January) that Leeds United enquired about taking the left-back on loan this month.
But Liam Rosenior’s side have beaten the Whites to a deal and Giles is now undergoing a medical at the KCOM Stadium.
The ex-Wolves star has made 14 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign – seven of which have come as part of the starting lineup.
Giles only joined Luton from Wolves last summer (2023) but hasn’t been able to hold down a regular spot in the Hatters’ starting lineup in the Premier League.
Alfie Doughty has kept the 23-year-old out of the side with a series of impressive recent performances in the top flight.
Giles is vastly experienced at Championship level and has racked up two goals and 22 assists in 119 games for five different clubs in the second tier.

Hull sit seventh in the table and are aiming to bolster their playoff credentials with new arrivals.
Giles could make his Tigers debut against Millwall on Saturday (3 February).
