Medical Today: Peterborough agree deal to sign Brentford forward Michael Olakigbe
Brentford winger Michael Olakigbe has agreed a deal to join Peterborough United, sources have told Football Insider.
The 19-year-old is set to have a medical later today before completing a loan deal with the League One side.
Olakigbe has been given the green light to join The Posh until the end of the 2023-24 season despite his breakthrough to the Brentford first-team this season.
The young winger has made 12 senior appearances for the Bees this season, including eight in the Premier League.
He has played 51 minutes of top-flight football in 2023-24 including substitute appearances in four of their last five matches.
The former Fulham academy star is yet to score or assist for Brentford but has received praise from manager Thomas Frank for his performances.
“Olakigbe trains with us and has been in the squad, I think, more or less, every game so far this season. [He] played quite a few minutes as a sub so I think they have done well to help us when we needed it,” said Frank.
Following his impressive performances in the first team, Olakigbe signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with the Londoners earlier this season.

Olakigbe is now set to join Peterborough and help their promotion push in the second half of the season with Darren Ferguson’s side sitting third in League One – three points off league leaders Portsmouth with a game in hand.
Provided he passes his medical, Olakigbe could be in line to make his Peterborough debut on Saturday (3 February) against Wigan.
