Stoke City midfielder Ryan Woods is set to undergo a medical at Millwall today as he puts the finishing touches to a transfer, Football Insider has learned.

The London club have agreed to sign Woods, 26, on loan for the rest of the season after he lost his place in the Potters team.

A Stoke source has told Football Insider that the midfield anchorman has been given the green light to head to London for a medical and to finalise the deal, which should be completed today.

Newly-appointed Millwall boss Gary Rowett is a big admirer of Woods as he looks to sign him for the second time.

Rowett took Woods to Stoke from Brentford in the summer of 2018 on an initial loan.

He initially made a big impact for the Potters and the deal became permanent in January of last year for £7million.

But Woods has struggled to maintain that form and Michael O’Neill has given the green light for him to leave for the second half of the campaign.

He has made 12 appearances this season but not featured at all for Stoke since early December.

Remarkably, Woods is in line to be the 16th senior loan exit to be arranged by Stoke in the last four years.

The Championship big hitters are eager to trim their squad and salary bill after it got bloated following their Premier League relegation.

In other Stoke City news, it can be REVEALED that the club are set to announce new signing as deal is all but done.
