Medical tonight: Luton Town agree to sign Daiki Hashioka after breakthrough in talks – Sources
Luton Town have agreed the signing of right-back Daiki Hashioka from Belgian side Sint-Truidense following a breakthrough in talks, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed the 24-year-old has jetted into the UK on Monday (29 January) and will undergo his medical with the Hatters as the finishing touches to the deal are completed.
Manager Rob Edwards had prioritised the arrival of a new right-back before the end of the January transfer window and now looks to have got his man with days to spare.
Hashioka has impressed in Belgium since joining Sint-Truidense from Urawa Reds in 2021.
The right-back, who had also been linked with KRC Genk, has managed two goals and two assists in 19 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign.
He was not in the squad to face Genk in a 1-1 Belgian Pro League draw on Sunday (29 January) as he gears up to make the move to England.
Hashioka has played 91 times in total for Truidense since his arrival, notching two goals and 14 assists.
The seven-cap Japan international also played 96 times for Urawa Reds between 2018 and 2021, managing six goals and seven assists.
He was not called up by his country to play at this month’s Asian Cup.

Man City loanee Issa Kabore is currently the only natural right-sided defender at Luton, who were promoted from the Championship last season.
Edwards’ side sit 18th in the Premier League and are just one point from safety with a game in hand on Everton in 17th.
