Medical underway: Blackpool agree deal to sign Burnley star Dan Sassi – sources
Burnley defender Dan Sassi undergoing a medical at Blackpool ahead of a permanent move to Bloomfield Road, sources have told Football Insider.
The 20-year-old, who joined Burnley from Stoke in 2020, is being allowed to move on as he is well down the pecking order at Turf Moor.
Sassi has captained Burnley’s youth sides since his arrival but is now set to make his first step into senior football with Blackpool in League One.
The centre-back, who has featured regularly for the Clarets’ Under-21 side this term, signed his first professional contract in September 2022.
That deal was set to keep Sassi at the club until June 2025, but Blackpool have now struck a deal to bring him to League One and the promotion fight at Bloomfield Road.
The Uttoxer-born ace made the bench for Vincent Kompany’s side on one occasion last season but has not been included in a Premier League matchday squad this season.
Sassi is behind the likes of Dara O’Shea, Jordan Beyer, Ameen Al-Dakhil, Hjalmar Ekdal and Hannes Delcroix in the centre-back pecking order at Turf Moor.

Blackpool have brought in two winter signings as they target an immediate promotion back to the Championship this season.
The Seasiders sit eighth in League One and are just four points adrift of a playoff berth with 17 games remaining this season.
