Medical underway: Celtic on verge of eleventh hour striker signing - report
By Danny Wright
Celtic appear to be closing in on the signing of Paris St. Germain striker Odsonne Edouard as he is currently undergoing a medical with the Scottish champions, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claimed in their live transfer blog on Thursday [09:43am] that Edouard, 19, is posed to sign for the Hoops on a season-long loan deal to become the club’s second signing of the week after Patrick Roberts returned from Manchester City.
It is understood that the PSG teen is now on the verge of signing for the Bhoys in the eleventh hour of the transfer window as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his striking options.
Moussa Dembele has missed the entirety of the domestic season so far through injury while there have also been concerns about Leigh Griffiths’ fitness with the Scot playing non-stop in the ex-Fulham man’s absence.
Edouard will be arriving at Parkhead off the back of a semi-successful loan spell at Toulouse last season in Ligue 1.

The 13-times France Under-19 international scored just one goal in 17 appearances for Toulouse, but he will have no doubt earned some vital first-team experience there which could be useful in his spell at Celtic.
Football Insider Verdict
Edouard will be a brilliant back-up options for the Hoops. They don’t need someone who can be better than Dembele or Griffiths, just a striker who is good enough to come in and bang the ball into the back of the net when those two are in need of rest or are injured. Edouard’s move could be crucial to the Bhoys’ hopes of Champions League success too. Having him playing in league games against lesser sides will mean that last season’s dynamic duo will be a lot more fresh for clashes against Bayern Munich, Anderlecht and Edouard’s parent club PSG in the group stages.
