Paul Merson has claimed that Mohamed Salah is the “best in the world” at creating havoc off the ball as he acclaimed the new Liverpool goal king.
Salah, 25, has had an extraordinary debut season at Anfield and Merson predicted that he will be too hot for Crystal Palace to handle in Saturday lunchtime’s televised clash.
The Sky Sports pundit and Arsenal legend pointed out that it is the Egyptian’s sensational movement that marks him out as a unique talent as he predicted a 3-1 win for Jurgen Klopp’s side at Selhurst Park.
“Mo Salah – that is it. I just don’t know how you stop him because for me, he is the best in the world without the ball and when he has got it, he’s very good as well so I just don’t know how Crystal Palace can stop him,” Merson told the Sky Sports website.
“They had a great result last time out, they needed to win against Huddersfield and with Wilfried Zaha back, they look like a better team but at the back, I just don’t think they’ll be able to cope with Liverpool. They will win this game quite easily.”
Football Insider verdict:
It is Salah’s goals that have catapulted him to stardom this season and established him as one of the most thrilling players ever seen in the Premier League. But it is not just his extreme pace, velvet touch and clinical finishing that make him a handful. The forward causes havoc because opponents can’t track his clever and impish movement. Salah’s teammates are good enough to find him most of the time, and his link-up play with Roberto Firmino is verging on the telepathic.
In other Liverpool news, the club are to table a mega goal machine offer, he will certainly be at Anfield in 18/19.
