Micah Richards and Ait-Nouri respond to Erling Haaland’s announcement at Man City
Erling Haaland took to social media with a new announcement after Man City thrashed Juventus in a seven-goal thriller at the Club World Cup.
Pep Guardiola‘s side topped Group G at the tournament out in America, becoming the only team to win all three of their opening games, beating Wydad Casablanca, Al-Ain, and the Old Lady.
Of course, Rico Lewis was unavailable for selection after the baffling decision to deny the club’s appeal against his red card, allowing Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Nunes to shine at full-back.
There was a lot of build-up leading into the final of the group stage, not least because of the team’s next opponents, but also because it could mark a special moment for Erling Haaland.
Having scored in the 6-0 win over Al-Ain, the Norwegian star needed just one goal to reach 300 career goals across club and country, and that is exactly what happened in Florida.
Erling Haaland reaches career landmark in Man City win
Taking to Instagram (27 June), Haaland shared a graphic of the clubs he has played for at senior level, with the simple caption: “300!” having reached the landmark against Juventus.
His teammates streamed onto social media to celebrate, with likes coming from Manuel Akanji, Ederson, Ait-Nouri, Savinho, and Oscar Bobb, who were joined by former player Micah Richards.
Norwegian star to break more records under Pep Guardiola
Football Insider verdict
Haaland will have been absolutely gutted to see Kevin De Bruyne leave on a free transfer, but with Tijjani Reinjders and Rayan Cherki now in the team, there is plenty of service for the striker.
Even in what was considered a poor season for the 24-year-old, he still notched 32 goals and four assists across all competitions, showcasing how many more records he could still break at the Etihad.
There could be further changes to the squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, too, with Mick Brown telling Football Insider that Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Jack Grealish.

The former Aston Villa man has long been linked with an exit, with fans beginning to suspect a falling-out between Grealish and Guardiola, but the Catalan has been nothing but respectful to the media.
James McAtee, Mateo Kovacic, Ilkay Gundogan, and John Stones have all been tipped to find new clubs, with a total squad reshake still to be expected ahead of next season.
