Micah Richards gives his instant reaction as major Chelsea news drops on Sky Sports – ‘It’s happening’
Liam Rosenior is flying to London ahead of a formal interview tomorrow to be the next Chelsea head coach.
Enzo Maresca left Chelsea this week, when his position was considered untenable in light of a dramatic fallout between him and the board.
The Italian had publicly complained about those above him, citing a lack of internal support for a number of key decisions.
Xavi was linked with the Chelsea job in the hours after Maresca‘s departure, but the Spaniard does not appear ready to return to management yet.
Rosenior was the frontrunner for the Chelsea job from the start, given his links to BlueCo through Strasbourg.

Chelsea drew 1-1 with Manchester City on Sunday, with their performance under Calum McFarlane proving the quality that remains.
The interim manager was given just hours to prepare his team, which included some players that he was just meeting for the first time.
Yet the Blues looked much more solid than they have done in recent games, and despite going behind to Tijjani Reijnder‘s goal before the break, they kept fighting.
McFarlane’s side dominated the chances in the second half, with Liam Delap‘s introduction a key moment.
The striker won duel after duel and did not stop running, driving his side forward until they finally got their reward when Enzo Fernandez tapped in at the back post.
During their analysis after the game, Sky Sports present Mark Chapman explained that it was their understanding that Rosenior was flying to London on Sunday night with an interview set for tomorrow.
Reacting immediately, Micah Richards said: “It’s happening isn’t it? I don’t know why you’re beating around the bush – it’s happening.”
What has Rosenior said?
The attitude in Strasbourg towards the past few days’ developments has understandably been very negative.
Fans of the French club were not fans of BlueCo already, and stripping them of their manager in the middle of a positive season will not make them any more popular.
Speaking on Saturday, Rosenior said: “It’s a very beautiful city, with very beautiful people, a great club. I liked everything.
“The players were amazing. I really want the best for this club. I don’t know if this is my last game. In life we don’t know”
The past hours’ events would suggest Rosenior did know, however. Chelsea may well have a new head coach in the next 24 hours.
