‘We’ll all be sad to let it go’: Michael Dawson delivers verdict on ‘special’ White Hart Lane ahead of final Tottenham home game

Ex-Tottenham defender Michael Dawson insists he has many ‘special’ memories of White Hart Lane during his time at the club.

Dawson’s comments come ahead of Tottenham’s final Premier League game at their beloved home, as they prepare to begin a new era at Wembley.

Tottenham confirmed on their official club Twitter account at the end of April that they had exercised an option that will see them play their home games at Wembley for the entire 2017-18 campaign.

The north London club have called White Hart Lane their home since 1899, but have moved to make Wembley their temporary base of operations as plans to construct a new stadium pick up the pace.

But with demolition of the Lane set to begin in the coming weeks, Dawson, who made 324 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions, has opened up about his special memories at his former home.

He told Tottenham’s official website on Tuesday: “White Hart Lane means so much to me. I’ve so many special memories and it was an emotional time when I left.

“White Hart Lane is a special place and Spurs is a club I will love for as long as I live. We’ll all be sad to let it go.”

Tottenham will mark the landmark occasion of their final ever game at White Hart Lane with a visit from Manchester United on Sunday.

Spurs will be looking to avenge their disappointing defeat to West Ham a week ago with a win over United, but it could do little to re-ignite their faint Premier League title hopes.

The defeat to West Ham saw Tottenham hand Chelsea the opportunity to seal the league title with a win over West Brom on Friday.

In other Tottenham news, Spurs should consider one of these three full-backs as an alternative to Luke Shaw this summer following another reported setback.
