Michael Edwards working on new Liverpool midfield signing – sources

Liverpool chief executive Michael Edwards is spearheading the club’s search for a new number six, sources have told Football Insider.

Edwards has previously been credited for his role in the signings of the likes of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk who have played key roles in Liverpool’s recent success.

A lack of action in the summer transfer window left fans frustrated, but the club have maintained they will not do business unless they feel

Zubimendi was the Reds’ first-choice deep-lying midfielder for Slot’s system, but his decision to remain at Real Sociedad has forced them to explore other options.

Football Insider revealed in August that conversations had taken place over a possible deal for France international and free agent Adrien Rabiot.

However, no deal materialised as Edwards and his recruitment team moved on to alternative options.
