Michael Olise: Big release clause update as Man United swoop – sources

Michael Olise does have a release clause in his Crystal Palace contract after being linked with a move away this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the 22-year-old’s exit clause will be close to £70million.

Olise was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea before he signed a new four-year deal at Palace last August, keeping him at Selhurst Park until 2027.

The former French youth international’s previous contract included a £35million release clause, but now it will take a much higher bid to prize him away from the south London club.

O’Rourke expects the Blues to show an interest in the winger again, while Manchester United, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Juventus could all make a move to sign him once the transfer window reopens.

Michael Olise could leave Crystal Palace after release clause update

Olise had previously been on the books at Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City before making a name for himself at Reading.

The London-born winger has put in a number of stellar performances since making the switch to Palace in 2021.

After suffering some injury problems earlier this season, he showed signs he’s getting back to his best after scoring twice for the Eagles in their 4-0 victory over Man United on 6 May.

The attacker has now scored nine goals and registered four assists in just 17 appearances during this campaign as Palace continue their revival under new boss Oliver Glasner.

Reports have suggested Olise’s contract doesn’t contain a “straightforward release clause” and any deal will be “complex”, with percentages due to himself, his former clubs and Palace.

Selhurst Park chiefs are only believed to be interested in entertaining offers worth more than £60million to sanction an exit for him this summer.
