Michael Olise: Jermaine Pennant wants Liverpool to offer ‘any amount plus Gakpo’ for Bayern star
Michael Olise continues to be linked with a big-money move to Liverpool, and those rumours are only getting stronger after the clash between PSG and Bayern Munich.
The 24-year-old played a starring role during a nine-goal thriller in a Champions League semi-final first leg on Tuesday, 28 April, causing total chaos as Bayern ended up on the losing side for a change.
It was a game that could have easily been the final, with the Ligue 1 giants taking a 5-2 lead after 58 minutes, only for the Germans to come back swinging, grabbing two back in 10 minutes.
Undoubtedly, Liverpool’s transfer chiefs would have been watching, with Arne Slot desperate to replace Mohamed Salah this summer, and Jermaine Pennant has seen enough to know that Olise is the real deal.

Olise took his record for the 2025-26 campaign to 22 goals and 27 assists in 52 games across all competitions, becoming one of the fiercest attackers in Europe.
Taking to X during the game (28 April), Pennant was blown away, writing: “Liverpool, go out and get Olise right now, at all costs. There is your replacement for Mo Salah. AT ALL COSTS. Any amount plus [Cody] Gakpo.”
Gakpo had been heavily linked with a move to the Allianz Arena last summer, but instead, the Reds allowed Luis Diaz to be sold, which now appears to have been the wrong decision.
This season, the Dutch winger has eight goals and six assists in 48 games, far below his usual standards at Anfield, with an increasing number of supporters wanting the 26-year-old to be sold this summer.
What does Cody Gakpo’s future hold at Anfield?
It would not be a surprise to see Gakpo move away from Merseyside over the summer months, especially with youngster Rio Ngumoha trying to break into the senior team on a more consistent basis.
Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider that Liverpool plan to accept an offer for Gakpo, but given that his current contract runs until the summer of 2030, it’ll take a reasonable fee to draw him away.
It is believed that the Reds have not yet identified a target for the left-wing spot, but after Tuesday night’s European thriller, Liverpool fans are bound to regret the sale of Diaz.
The Colombian also hit the back of the net, taking his tally up to 25 goals and 17 assists in all competitions for the campaign, nearly notching a goal contribution every game.
