Michael Olise: Liverpool must splash out for Bayern Munich star as Mohamed Salah announces exit
Michael Olise simply has to be the first name on Liverpool‘s transfer wishlist following the news of Mohamed Salah’s departure.
The Egyptian king is bringing his nine-year-long spell at Anfield to a close at the end of the 2025-26 campaign, announcing his departure on social media on Tuesday, 24 March.
After 435 games, 255 goals and 122 assists, the Reds have finally reached the dreaded day when they have to find the star winger’s replacement, which is an impossible task, right?
Liverpool’s transfer plans will be taking shape ahead of the summer, and Salah’s departure is unlikely to be a surprise to many behind the scenes, despite his contract running until the summer of 2027.

Although Arne Slot has a very exciting prospect in Rio Ngumoha coming through, Liverpool require a proven, exciting, world-beating attacker to fill Salah’s shoes at Anfield.
That is where Bayern Munich’s No.17 comes in. However, Football Insider understands that Vincent Kompany’s side don’t want to part with Michael Olise, likely leading to a rather hefty price tag.
Man City are also keeping tabs on the Frenchman’s situation in the Bundesliga, but the Reds are far more desperate for his signature, and especially more so now that Salah is definitely leaving.
| Stats | Mohamed Salah’s Premier League season | Michael Olise’s Bundesliga season |
| Goals | 5 | 11 |
| Assists | 6 | 17 |
| Chances created | 44 | 71 |
| Successful dribbles | 22.6% | 43.2% |
| Touches in opposition box | 158 | 187 |
| Recoveries | 67 | 88 |
Olise already has Premier League experience under his belt, having shone at Crystal Palace for three seasons, and now he steals all the headlines in the Champions League.
Michael Olise could be in line for quick Premier League return
A return to the Premier League seems like a natural progression for the 24-year-old, especially if he wants to achieve everything in his career, including a league title back in England.
However, any deal is unlikely to come cheap for the Reds, so the hierarchy must be prepared to spend big on the Frenchman’s signature to get the deal done, and it’s a no-brainer.
With the exciting young star only a few years into his senior career, it would be an investment for the 20-time league winners, with nobody at the club currently to fill the impending gaping void.
Salah has given everything to the club since he arrived in 2017, so it will be impossible for anyone to replace him, but it is imperative that the Reds find someone to take his position on the right flank.
