Bayern Munich star Michael Olise has emerged as the top target for Liverpool as they put plans in place to replace Mohamed Salah, sources have told Football Insider.

After Salah confirmed he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, the club have stepped up their transfer plans as they assess potential replacements.

The 24-year-old is enjoying an outstanding season in the Bundesliga and is viewed as the ideal replacement given the Egypt international’s imminent exit.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Liverpool have been long-term admirers of Olise, but a deal will be difficult to pull off.

The France international proved himself in the Premier League during his time with Crystal Palace, and could make a return as a key part of Liverpool’s transfer plans.

Liverpool plan to step up Michael Olise pursuit

Football Insider revealed back in October that Olise is Liverpool’s top target to replace Salah as they were already preparing for his eventual departure.

While they are not believed to be the only interested club, with Real Madrid also keeping tabs on his progress, they could step up their plans this summer.

The France international is one of a number of names on their list, with the likes of Anthony Gordon also mentioned, as Liverpool now put plans in place.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Michael Olise is a player that Liverpool admire and would love to bring as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.

“It’s not an easy deal to do for various reasons, it’ll be hard for Liverpool to prise him away.

“It’ll be even harder for them to prise him away if they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season.

“Bayern Munich don’t want to sell him and it would take a huge price tag to even get him out of there as well.

“So a lot of obstacles in the way for Liverpool to try and sign Olise, who is obviously among their top targets to replace Salah.”

How to Bayern Munich feel about losing Olise?

Despite Liverpool’s ambitions of signing Olise this summer, it could prove a very difficult deal to pull off given his importance to the Bundesliga giants.

Multiple Bayern chiefs have spoken out about his future in recent days to distance themselves from speculation as they insist he remains part of their plans.

This comes after Football Insider first revealed in October that Bayern Munich have no plans to lose Olise and will not entertain offers for his signature.

He registered 12 goals and 15 assists as they won the Bundesliga title in his debut campaign at the club, and has gone from strength to strength this season.

The German outfit see him being a crucial part of their side for years to come and have no plans to let him leave to a European rival.
