Michael Olise: Man City turn attention to signing new Riyad Mahrez replacement – sources

Crystal Palace star Michael Olise is the subject of genuine interest from treble winners Man City, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed Pep Guardiola’s side see him as a potential replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who is expected to complete a move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal.

And Palace would be powerless to resist approaches for Olise, 21, if Man City activate his £35million release clause.

An exit for the creative midfielder would come as a huge blow for the Eagles – who look set to lose Wilfried Zaha to Galatasaray following the expiry of his contract last month.

Olise is currently out injured with a hamstring problem he picked up at the Under-21 European Championships.

However, he is seen as a long-term project for the Citizens and his lack of fitness is not expected to impact any potential deal.

Left-footed right-winger Olise notched two goals and 11 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions last season.

He has made a big impact since joining Crystal Palace from Reading in 2021, cementing his reputation as one of the Premier League’s most exciting talents.

The former Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea trainee is under contract at Selhurst Park until June 2026.

Football Insider revealed last week (17 July) that City boss Guardiola will be given the funds needed to replace Mahrez this summer.

The Algeria international is expected to sign a two-year deal with Al-Hilal with an option to extend his stay for an additional 12 months – and is set to land £43million per season plus bonuses.
