By Amir Mir

Michael Owen has predicted Liverpool to beat Stoke and both teams to score on Tuesday evening at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s side take on the 11tth placed team in a festive clash following their late win against Merseyside rivals Everton last time out.

Attacker Sadio Mane netted a stoppage-time winner to record a much-needed three points in their Premier League title race.

They now meet Mark Hughes’ men who dropped a two-goal lead by drawing 2-2 against ten-man Leicester during their last league encounter.

Former Anfield striker Owen believes the home side will claim all three points, but explained why the away team will score.

“Who knows how significant Sadio Mane’s late winner at Goodison will be when we look back on the title race at the end of the season, but it was certainly enough to give Liverpool fans the bragging rights on Merseyside this Christmas,” Owen wrote in his Bet Victor column.

“Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are yet to keep three clean sheets in a row in the PL and I think Stoke might nick a goal, but fully expect the Reds to keep the points.”

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea top the league table at Christmas, having won their last 11 matches, with Klopp’s side six points behind in second after 17 encounters.

Summer signing Mane has played a huge part in his side showing title form this season. He has scored eight goals and provided five assists in his 16 league games.

As a result, the Merseyside club have won 11 out of their 17 matches, drawing four and losing two.

Additionally, they are also the top scorers in the division with 41 goals from their 17 matches, as they take on a Stoke side that have conceded 24 goals this term.

Dropped points on Tuesday can see the Reds drop to fourth in the table if results also go against them.
