Michael Owen has predicted Tottenham to beat Borussia Dortmund Wednesday night in the Champions League.
Spurs host the German outfit at Wembley in the first round of fixtures in their group.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be looking to get off to a good start and they have matches against Real Madrid and Apoel Nicosia ahead of them in Group H.
The North London club will be confident after beating Everton 3-0 on Saturday in the Premier League, while Dortmund go into the game top of the Bundesliga.
Owen has tipped Spurs to win the European clash and for them to get over their recent Wembley troubles at the same time.
“It is well documented that Wembley hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Spurs but they are taken to right that wrong against a Dortmund side who were too good for the PL outfit in the Europa League two seasons ago,” Owen wrote in his column for Bet Victor. “It is about time, however, Spurs made Wembley a fortress and what better game to start a sequence of wins than against a very good Bundesliga outfit.”
Pochettino’s side are without a win in their opening two home matches at temporary ground Wembley this season and are taking some time adjusting to the bigger dimensions.
They will be hoping to hit the ground running in Europe and will be fully aware of the importance of home form in the Champions League.
Spurs have been dealt a difficult draw in Europe’s elite club competition and will be without attacking midfielder Dele Alli for the first three group games as he serves a suspension.
In other Tottenham news, Harry Kane has been blown away by one of the club’s summer signings.
