Michael Owen predicts Tottenham v Watford, hails outstanding player

By Amir Mir

Michael Owen has backed Tottenham to beat Watford in their Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon at White Hart Lane.

Former Liverpool defender Owen hailed the “outstanding” Dele Alli, who he believes changed the game during their remarkable 3-1 win against Swansea in midweek.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who are chasing the Premier League title, were 1-0 down after 88 minutes before Alli’s equaliser.

Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen then scored the second and third goals for their side in stoppage time as the London-based club produced a dramatic comeback.

As a result, they are now seven points behind leaders Chelsea in the table and Owen believes they can keep the pressure on Antonio Conte’s men with a win at home.

“Dele Alli scored twice in the reverse fixture at Vicarage Road in January and he has been outstanding in recent weeks and it was no surprise to see hi change the game at the Liberty Stadium midweek,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Spurs are unbeaten at White Hart Lane this term. Chelsea in 2013/14 were the last of 13 previous teams to have gone a whole Premier League season unbeaten at home – I don’t expect the Hornets to break Spurs’ proud home record.”

Former League One player Alli has been in remarkable form of the course of the season for Tottenham who are hoping to secure their maiden Premier League title.

Alli has played 41 games in all competitions for the north London club, scoring 18 goals and providing ten assists.

Furthermore, he has found the back of the net on 15 occasions in the league, a brilliant goalscoring record for a player that plays in the middle of the park.

Three points for the home team would see them keep the pressure on Chelsea who travel to Bournemouth later on Saturday.
