TalkSport pundit Mick Quinn has suggested that Liverpool would have a big chance of winning their first Premier League title if they secured the signing of Virgil van Dijk.
Jurgen Klopp’s side is notably short of solid options in the centre of defence, but the German manager has a very capable attack and midfield on his hands, meaning that a title challenge could be in the offing next season.
Now, Liverpool-born Quinn, 55, is sure that van Dijk could represent the difference between being in a title-race or another year of disappointment.
“I think he’s massive. If Liverpool have got any chance of winning the Premier League, they have to sign van Dijk,” said the former Newcastle striker on TalkSport on Tuesday, as shown in a video on Alan Brazil’s Sports Breakfast’s official Twitter account.

Van Dijk is largely dubbed as one of the best centre-backs in English football, but last season he missed a large chunk of the campaign due to a serious injury.
The 12-times Netherlands international has featured 68 times across all competitions for Southampton, scoring seven goals in the process.
Liverpool have not been on of the most active teams in this summer’s transfer window, with Dominic Solanke, Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson their only recruits so far.
In other Liverpool news, Robertson has expressed his delight at moving to Anfield.
