‘Mike Phelan has major impact on Wayne Rooney job’ – ‘Massive’ Plymouth reaction
Plymouth Argyle fans were highly encouraged by Wayne Rooney and Mike Phelan’s tactics in their 2-0 loss to Sheffield United.
Despite the Pilgrims suffering another loss on Saturday (14 December), they put in a performance that fans can be invigorated by against the league leaders in the first match since the ex-Man United assistant joined the former Old Trafford captain.
Rooney’s side have won just one out of the last 10 matches and fans have called for the club to sack the 39-year-old before.
At one point he was believed to be two results from losing his job before a postponement and the arrival of Phelan, which appears to have triggered a rejuvenated display.

The South Coast club remains in the relegation zone, just two points off the bottom, but they have a game in hand over Hull City.
Despite earlier reports suggesting the Englishman was “fighting to save his job” earlier this month, those claims seem to have died down.
The game against the Blades was always going to be tough, but supporters typically ask for one thing in such matches: effort.
And that’s exactly what they got after a “massive improvement” which even home supporters were impressed by.
Fans were convinced the team are “still playing for Rooney” despite the pressure on his role, and are convinced that Phelan “has changed something” for the better.
In other news, Rooney has seemingly been given the “platform” to succeed.
