Mikel Arteta can lure Oleksandr Zinchenko and Man City teammate to Arsenal after source's reveal - pundit

Mikel Arteta could lure both Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from Man City to Arsenal, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Zinchenko would be a “perfect” option for the Arsenal midfield.

The Evening Standard reported last week (6 June) that the Gunners are one of a number of teams interested in the 25-year-old and are willing to let him play in midfield.

A club source told Football Insider last week (5 June) that they have agreed personal terms with Jesus and are increasingly confident of completing a deal.

It is understood the chance to link up once again with Arteta who spent over three years as a coach at Man City has played a factor in Jesus’ eagerness to join.

“Arteta could be the reason that Gabriel Jesus and Zinchenko sign,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“They will have worked with him, he was a coach at Man City so they have that relationship with him.

“If they can promise him a role in midfield, I think he would be perfect.

“I’d take him all day if I was an Arsenal fan. He showed in the World Cup play-off games how good he is in that midfield role.

“I’m sure it’s something Arsenal will be looking at but maybe Pep might want to keep him as cover at left-back.

“They’ve got a lot of games as well with five substitutes.”

Zinchenko played 28 times across all competitions for Man City in the 2021-22 season.

He provided cover and competition for Joao Cancelo at left-back but plays in midfield for Ukraine.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Arsenal are a ‘soap opera’ amid a ‘£19million’ reveal.
