Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta are in advanced talks over a new long-term contract at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed the 42-year-old is in ongoing talks with the Gunners, with negotiations progressing nicely.

Both parties are happy and want to continue together in a bid to bring the Premier League title back to Arsenal.

Club chiefs are desperate to tie Arteta down to a new long-term contract to ward off background interest from elite European sides.

The Spaniard’s current contract only runs until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Arsenal are working hard to tie the fan favourite down to a longer deal in a bid to continue their push for a first Premier League title since 2004.

Arteta’s side challenged Man City for the trophy for the second consecutive season but came up short on the final day despite their win against Everton.
