‘Mikel Arteta is finished at Arsenal’ after Sky reveal – fans erupt

Arsenal have drifted away in the Premier League title race in recent weeks to the frustration of their supporters, leaving question marks over Mikel Arteta and his team.

The Gunners currently sit 13 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League table, although they do boast a game in hand on the Reds.

However, Arsenal have a mountain to climb if they want to lift the title at the end of the season and that has caused a lot of resentment among the fans.

Arteta’s men do still have a legitimate chance of winning silverware this season though as they remain in the Champions League, which is a trophy the club have never won.

Injuries to Arsenal’s attacking options have had a devastating impact on the team this season with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus out for the season, while Bukayo Saka is also sidelined at the moment as well.

However, while some supporters are willing to accept that injuries have derailed their campaign there are others who believe that Arteta’s long-term legacy is being damaged.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal legacy has been questioned

Arteta has managed to transform Arsenal into a team that will compete for trophies, but they have yet to do that on a consistent basis.

Stephen Warnock spoke to Sky Sports about Arteta’s legacy and how the tide is starting to turn among supporters.

He said, “A lot of Arsenal fans were calling for Arteta to be out, they’re not happy, they felt like this was the year. They feel like he’s wasted money on players, played who haven’t performed at the highest level.

“But look at where Arsenal were when he went in. This is the harsh reality.

“A lot of managers do that within the game, they struggle to just get over that line and win a title.”

Arsenal fans believe Mikel Arteta could be fired

Arsenal fans believe that a lack of silverware is starting to become a problem, especially if that seeps into next season as well.

Supporters have stated Arteta “should just be gone” if he cannot win a trophy before the end of next season, which was a sentiment shared by many.
