Mikel Arteta will hope for 16-year miracle after seeing staggering Man City record vs Fulham
Arsenal will hope for a major upset when Fulham visit Man City in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
Viktor Gyokeres scored a brace as Arsenal beat Sunderland 3-0 in an ultimately routine victory at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
The Gunners would have hoped their nine-point lead would have been sustained for the rest of the week, but dramatic events on Sunday saw it slashed back to six.
Man City beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield, with Erling Haaland‘s late penalty sealing the points in what was a chaotic game.
Dominik Szoboszlai scored and was sent off against Man City, in a stunning 30 minutes that will not be forgotten in a hurry.
Man City’s staggering record vs Fulham
For now, Arsenal retain a six-point lead over Man City at the top of the Premier League, but this week could be key.
The Gunners face a difficult away trip to Brentford, where just two visiting sides have emerged victorious this season.

The Bees have been in superb form in recent weeks, and will be hoping to boost their own chances of European qualification.
With that game set to take place on Thursday, Man City will have a chance to put the pressure on by closing the gap on Wednesday.
If Arsenal were praying for an upset, they could not have chosen a worse team to carry that task forward.
Man City have won their previous 19 matches against Fulham across all competitions, with the last time they dropped points to the Cottagers coming in a 2011 draw.
You have to go back even further to see the last time the Citizens lost to the London club, with that game, in April 2008, ending 3-2 to Roy Hodgson‘s Fulham.
December clash will give Arsenal some confidence
Arsenal will not be unrealistic about Wednesday’s clash. Their focus will remain on their own game, which will deem Man City’s result irrelevant if they can win.
However, there will be some faint streaks of hope remaining in the Gunners camp, after what Fulham almost did in December.
In the 54th minute of Man City’s trip to Craven Cottage, the visitors were 5-1 up and cruising towards three points.
Alex Iwobi‘s goal just three minutes later seemed to change everything, however. A double from substitute Samuel Chukwueze quickly had Pep Guardiola‘s side just one goal away from complete collapse.
Only Josko Gvardiol‘s goal-line clearance would save Man City’s blushes on a night that proved the frailties that exist in Guardiola’s team – frailties that Arsenal will hope are exploited again in the coming weeks.
