‘Mikel Arteta wrong man for the Arsenal job and a liar’ – Fans rage at new claim
Mikel Arteta has been called out as a “specialist in failure” by Arsenal fans following his most recent admission over the Premier League title race.
The Gunners have fallen yet another three points behind Arne Slot’s Liverpool, who are now 11 points clear at the top of the table, following their disappointing 1-0 defeat to West Ham.
With 17 minutes remaining on the clock, Arsenal’s fate was sealed when Myles Lewis-Skelly received a red card for pulling Mohammed Kudus down on the halfway line and stopping a counterattack.
Liverpool overcame Man City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday (24 February) to extend their lead in the Premier League title race, with Arteta’s side now closer to third-place Nottingham Forest.

Mikel Arteta refuses to admit Premier League title race is over
Despite now falling 11 points behind, Arteta, speaking to the press, responded to whether Arsenal’s chances were over with: “Over my dead body.”
Some supporters have applauded the Spaniard for his mentality, continuing to push for the Premier League title until mathematically impossible, though others are not so supportive.
The Gunners have not won the league title since the 2003/04 season, and since Arteta was appointed as manager in 2019, they have come much closer than ever before on multiple occasions.
It has still not been enough, however, and fans are becoming restless with their team’s inability to remain calm under pressure and do the dirty work when called upon, especially against the likes of West Ham.
Arsenal supporters losing faith in their manager
With an away clash against Forest at The City Ground up next, Arsenal’s hopes of lifting the Premier League trophy this season could be well and truly crushed with 11 games remaining.
Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk could be in their final seasons at Liverpool, which is providing them even more incentive to strive towards the finish line, and further away from the Gunners.
Premier League standings | Points |
1. Liverpool | 64 |
2. Arsenal | 53 |
Though, with Arteta refusing to give up, multiple supporters have called him out as “delusional” while another went as far as to label him a “specialist in failure”.
One fan believes Arteta is the “wrong man for the job”, and if his team cannot win some silverware this season, it could be his final term at the Emirates Stadium.
