
Mikey Moore sends message to Tottenham fans after record-breaking twist
Tottenham sensation Mikey Moore took to social media to celebrate scoring his first senior goal in their 3-0 Europa League win over Elfsborg on Thursday (January 30).
The 17-year-old scored in added time as Ange Postecoglu’s struggling side secured a spot in the Europa League round of 16 with a fourth-placed finish in the new-look league phase.
At 17 years and 172 days old, London-born Moore became the youngest English player to score in major men’s European competition, breaking Jimmy Greaves’ record (17 years 245 days), set in October 1957.
Spurs dominated the game from the first whistle but it took until the 70th minute for the Premier League side to break the deadlock thanks to a close-range header from Dane Scarlett.
Debutant Damola Ajayi doubled Tottenham’s lead just three minutes after coming on to replace Richarlison, who Football Insider revealed has expressed a desire to leave the North London club.
Moore rounded the scoring off in the 94th minute, marking a fantastic day for the Tottenham academy and earning a spot in the next round of the Europa League.
Several senior players have taken to social media to congratulate the three players on their performance, including Dominic Solanke and captain Heung-Min Son.

The youngster has been thrown in at the deep end as Spurs continue to endure an injury crisis, starting seven of his 15 games across all competitions, scoring one goal, and providing four two assists in his 296 senior minutes.
The win over Elfsborg wasn’t the only piece of good news for Postecoglu, centre-back Mikey van de Ven made his return after a lenthy injury spell.
Moore took to Instagram to celebrate what he will doubtless be hoping in the first of many Tottenham goals, saying: “Qualification and first professional goal, what a night.”

Tottenham remain in the market for a new forward despite Moore’s emergence, with Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel said to be their main target, a move that has one Spurs legend ‘stunned.’
Postecoglu’s side will be hoping to build on their qualification to the next round of the Europa League will kickstart their Premier League campaign as they travel to Brentford on Sunday (February 2).
