Mills: Aston Villa told to U-turn on transfer plan for their two wonderkids

Danny Mills has insisted Carney Chukwuemeka and Jaden Philogene-Bidace should leave Aston Villa on loan this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England and Premier League defender insisted the teenagers will only get to

Birmingham Live report both Chukwuemeka and Philogene-Bidace will be heavily involved in the Villa first-team next term.

The pair made their senior debuts in Villa’s penultimate game of the season against Tottenham where they were introduced from the bench.

Chukwuemeka then played his second game against Chelsea before starting the FA Youth Cup final the following day.

The Midlands giants lifted the trophy after a 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Villa Park and Chukwuemeka ended the competition as top scorer with six goals.

“If players want to get to that level they need to play week in, week out,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“They need to play competitive football, that’s the most important thing. If they can arrange that with the right club…And that’s the most important thing, going to the right club that plays in the right way with the right style.

“If the Villa kids can go to the right place then, definitely.

“But if not, you have to stay and learn your trade and fight for your place.”

Dean Smith has shown he is not afraid to use youth-team players at Aston Villa as Jacob Ramsey enjoyed a breakout campaign this season.

The 20-year-old, whose younger brother Aaron who captained the FA Youth Cup-winning side, made 22 appearances in the Premier League, including six starts.

In other news, Aston Villa have been backed to sign Lionel Messi’s teammate to replace Ross Barkley.
