Leeds United defender Ezgjan Alioski should man-mark Wolves winger Adama Traore in tonight’s clash, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Whites and England defender claimed the Spain international can cause problems for Alioski, 29, with his blistering pace and incredible strength.
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa said in his press conference ahead of the Wolves game he would not employ a man-marking tactic.
He added: “Traore is a player who likes to play out wide on the wings. If he dominates the ball on his side he’s difficult to stop, so whoever’s marking him will need some support.”
Asked whether he was worried about Traore facing up against Alioski, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Traore is exceptional, isn’t he? His end product has got a lot, lot better.
“He’s dropped off a little in the goalscoring charts this season a little bit and his assists. Maybe that’s down to losing the likes of Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez.
“But he’s a real threat. If he gets the ball and starts running at you, you’ve got problems. Not only can he go past you like Usain Bolt, but he’s also got that ability to do a trick, come inside, do a little one-two. He’s a real handful.
“It could cause problems for Alioski. The way to deal with exceptionally quick players, like Traore, you’ve got to be tight on them. Maybe if Alioski goes man-to-man, the moment Traore gets the ball – bang, he’s tight. He doesn’t give him a chance to turn, to get his head up and start running at him.
“The problem is he’s also very, very strong so if you get too tight and he rolls you then you aren’t catching him. It’s not an easy one but you’ve got to test yourself against the best.”
