Mills can't believe confirmed news on 'incredible' Bielsa's Leeds future

Danny Mills cannot understand why Andrea Radrizzani had to go public with his support for Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender insisted Leeds would be in “deep trouble” if Bielsa left.

As quoted by the Athletic (November 2), Radrizzani insisted the club “unconditionally” support their manager despite their slow start to the season.

Leeds currently sit in 17th in the Premier League, just three points above the relegation zone after 10 games played.

“Why wouldn’t he [have their support]?” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“I don’t get it. You normally do that when you’re manager is under pressure, Bielsa is not under pressure.

“Everyone knows he is lauded and how good he is. There’s no reason to come out and say that at all. I don’t understand why you would say that.

“‘We give him our support’. Yes, too right you do because if he leaves you’re in deep trouble.

“We all know the incredible success he has had and what he’s done for the football club. Absolutely everything he has done has been nothing short of sensational.

“Ok, they’re having a little bit of a blip but that’s down to injuries. Maybe it’s a little bit down to training methods and pushing the players really hard.

“Clearly he’s going to get it right. He’s been there a long time, he understands the league and he understands the players.

“Has anybody even mooted ‘Maybe, he’s not the right man for the job?’ No, they haven’t.

“I’m not entirely sure why this unwavering support was necessary because I thought he had that anyhow.”
