It is “now or never” for Harry Kane if he wants to leave Tottenham, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England and Leeds United defender suggested this summer will be the last chance the 27-year-old will have to seal a “big move that he absolutely craves”.
The England captain sparked talk about a summer exit after telling Sky Sports he would reassess his future after the European Championships.
He said: “I’m fully focussed on doing the job on the pitch from now until the end of the summer, and then we’ll see where we go from there.”
Asked for his assessment of Kane’s future, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Now or never.”
He added: “That’s pretty much how it is for Harry Kane.
“If Tottenham have another average season and you’ve got Erling Haaland, you’ve got Kylian Mbappe coming up, does Harry Kane start to slip down the list? Especially as he gets a year older. That may well happen.
“It’s a big decision for Harry Kane to make this summer. He obviously loves Tottenham and he’s desperate to win something with them.
“He has to decide ‘Is that what I want? Or do I want to win the Premier League? And if so, how am I going to do that?
“I feel if he doesn’t leave this summer, he’s there for life. This may well be that chance to get that big move that he absolutely craves.”
After emerging as early title contenders this season, Tottenham slipped to eighth before the international break.
They were also dumped out of the Europa League and FA Cup but will contest the Carabao Cup final with Manchester city in April.
