Mills: Everton ‘all of a sudden’ destined for the up after ‘disaster fears’

Everton “could be starting to look up the table” following a potential “turning point” in Monday’s win against Arsenal, according to Danny Mills.

The former England defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted the club may have feared a “disaster” of a season after recent form.

Everton face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday (12 December) with just two points and one place separating the two sides in the Premier League table.

Rafa Benitez’s side will be looking to record back-to-back wins after registering their first victory in nine games on Monday (6 December).

Everton left it late at Goodison Park against Arsenal – with Demarai Gray‘s 92nd-minute screamer sealing all three points.

Mills hailed the Toffees’ “fight, organisation, and quality” during the Gunners clash.

“Everton fans will certainly be hoping that win can be a turning point,” he told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.

“Rafa Benitez has obviously struggled a lot with injury problems, they’ve lost a lot of their best players.

“The attitude against Arsenal was fantastic, and that’s what the fans want. They went out and tried their hardest, and that’s what Everton have been built on for a number of years.

“We saw them fight, they were organised and they had quality. I’m sure that result will give them a big boost going into this next game now. They may well be starting to look up the table.

“All of a sudden they could jump all the way up to ninth or tenth – they’re only a couple of points behind. Maybe this season won’t end up being the disaster they might have been fearing.

“They’re just a good Christmas period away from knocking on the door.”

Everton

Everton are currently 13th in the Premier League, sitting eight points clear of 18th-place Burnley after 15 games.

The Toffees face Palace, Chelsea and Leicester City in the space of seven days.
