Exclusive: Danny Mills fumes after Bielsa makes big Leeds player confession
Danny Mills has hit out at Marcelo Bielsa for not giving marquee Leeds United signing Jean-Kevin Augustin at least 15 minutes as a substitute in Saturday’s crushing defeat.
Speaking to Football Insider, the ex-England defender questioned why the French striker, 22, failed to even make the squad for Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic while fellow new arrival Ian Poveda was an unused sub.
Augustin joined Leeds on a loan-to-buy deal from RB Leipzig worth a potential £20million last Monday after his season-long at Monaco was terminated last week at the midway point.
Augustin has not featured in either of United’s matches since his arrival, with supporters left especially baffled at his absence on Saturday.
Bielsa said he left out Augustin because Augustin needs to get up to speed with how Leeds play and he doesn't want to expose Augustin to the Championship and the crowd until he understands how Leeds play. Bielsa thinks he's doing right by him. #LUFC

Manager Marcelo Bielsa explained afterwards that Augustin has not completed the necessary adaptation period following his move from Germany via France.
But Mills claimed there was no point signing the former France Under-21 international or ex-Man City winger Poveda if they were not going to play.

He told Football Insider: “He brings in Big Kev (Augustin), he’s not in the squad because apparently he’s not match fit. He’s got Poveda, who’s in there.
“You don’t always need people who are match fit for 10 minutes, that’s all you need sometimes, just that plan B to change it and I think that’s the frustration – two forward players have been brought in but are they going to be utilised?
“Fans are looking on and going what’s the plan? If you’re saying one you’ve bought is not match fit, well when is he going to be match fit? Surely he’s fit enough to do 15 minutes off the bench.
“It’s frustrating, Leeds fans go away disappointed, yes, but frustrated when the opposition are making three changes to slow the game down and Bielsa’s not really changing it from the bench. There’s no point bringing them in if they’re not going to play.”
