Mills: Greenwood and Gelhardt may be considering Leeds futures after confirmed news
Danny Mills has suggested Joe Gelhardt or Sam Greenwood should leave Leeds United on loan this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender delivered his verdict after the club confirmed the capture of Amari Miller.
Football Insider first revealed on 15 June Leeds were in advanced talks with Birmingham City over the 18-year-old before the signing was announced on 28 June.
He will initially link up with Mark Jackson’s Under-23s side who romped home to the Premier League 2 Division 2 title last term.
Gelhardt and Greenwood were the stars of the show last term and Mills has claimed they may be considering their immediate futures now.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “If I was one of those players I’d be looking at it and thinking ‘I want a loan spell’.

“The only problem you’ve got is with Leeds Under-23s being promoted from Premier League 2 Divison 2 to Premier League 2 Division 1, they might want to keep some of those players so they can do well and not get relegated.
“But in terms of their development, I would prefer to go out on loan and play real football for three points in front of crowds, if they’re allowed back in.
“Leeds may hold on to a couple to keep that team strong because they won’t want to get relegated. It will be interesting to see.”
Gelhardt and Greenwood, both 19, arrived at Elland Road from Wigan Athletic and Arsenal last summer.
Greenwood made his senior bow in the FA Cup in January but Gelhardt is yet to feature for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
In other news, Leeds United have sealed a deal worth £20m+ in fee and wages.
